Gardai today ruled out foul play in the investigations into the discoveries of two bodies, one in Mayo and another in Cavan.

Gardai today ruled out foul play in the investigations into the discoveries of two bodies, one in Mayo and another in Cavan.

The remains of a 31-year old woman from Ballina were found at Kilgalligan, Carrowtigue, Co Mayo at around 5.30am on Monday.

An investigation was launched by gardaí and a post-mortem examination was carried out last night, details of which have not been released.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, Cavan gardaí have confirmed the body of a man discovered yesterday near Cootehill, around 3km outside of Cavan town, is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman said: “As a result of last night’s post-mortem, gardaí in Cavan have ruled out foul play in their investigation into the death of a man, who’s body was found in the roadway 3kms outside the town.”
