A hat trick of first half goals from dual forward Neville Coughlan helped Offaly and new boss Gerry Fahy come through the challenge of Wexford at Enniscorthy.

HT: Longford 2-7 Laois 0-1
Goals from Paul Barden and James Martin gave Longford a surprise 2-7 to 0-1 half-time lead against Laois at Dromard, and they held onto that for a 6-8 to 0-6 win.
The twenty-point beating was confirmed by 4-1 scored by a confident Longford side in the second half, with Mick O’Dwyer’s side offering just five points in a poor showing.

Damien Munnelly and Conall McGinley scored first half goals to ease DIT to a 2-12 to 1-8 victory over Kilkenny at Freshford.

Former minor star Ciaran Mullen helped himself to four first-half points as Derry ran out easy 1-11 to 0-6 winners over Antrim in Maghera.

HT: Queen’s Uni 0-7 Cavan 1-8
A 20-yard Sean Brady goal in the opening period saw Cavan to a 1-8 to 0-7 lead at half time in Kingscourt and two second half strikes eased them out to a 3-11 to 0-12 win at the final whistle.

Star forward Adrian Sweeney paved the way for an away win for Donegal against Fermanagh in Enniskillen, as his first half haul of 1-1 helped his side to a 1-16 to 0-10 win.

Tony McEntee impressed in All-Ireland runners-ups Armagh’s 1-15 to 1-9 win over St Mary’s, after the sides had ended the first half level at 0-7 apiece.

HT: Monaghan 1-2 Down 0-5
After just eight scores in the first half at Clones, Monaghan emerged victorious with a measured second half display, scoring thirteen points to Down’s 1-9. The game finished in Monaghan’s favour, 1-15 to 1-9.
