Galway's footballers have reached the next round of the All-Ireland qualifying series after recording a comfortable win over Wicklow at Aughrim yesterday.

The Tribesman dominated the game from the start and led by one goal and seven points before Wicklow scored their first point on 25 minutes.

The Leinster side performed a little better in the second half, but they still couldn't stop Galway running out 3-12 to 1-9 winners.

Elsewhere, Kildare barely survived their qualifying-series meeting with Donegal at Newbridge yesterday.

Donegal started on top and roared into a 1-6 to 0-1 lead early in the game, but Kildare found their form after 20 minutes and trailed by just a point at half time.

The game was tied on 70 minutes, but Kildare corner back Ken Doyle kicked a point deep into injury time to give the Lily Whites a 1-17 to 1-16 win.

Armagh had it a little easier against Monaghan in Clones, with goals by John Toal and Steven McDonnell helping them to a 2-12 to 0-10 victory.

Clare and Laois, meanwhile, played out a 0-13 to 1-8 draw in Portlaoise.
