Analog Devices announced today that, as part of its overall strategic manufacturing plan, the Company will close its separate Limerick 'Wafer Fab six inch' operations by the end of 2008 and integrate it with the 'eight inch fab' operation.
Dennis Dempsey vice-president Limerick manufacturing said: "This is a long-term strategic decision for us as we must continuously assess our manufacturing capability to maintain our leadership position in the global semiconductor industry in which we compete,"
He added: "By focusing this flagship manufacturing facility on the more advanced 8" technology, we will be better positioned to provide innovative technology that is optimized to the performance and cost requirements of our customers well into the foreseeable future."
