Westmeath murder investigation underway

Gardaí will resume questioning a man today in connection with the discovery of a body in Co. Westmeath.

Gardaí will resume questioning a man today in connection with the discovery of a body in Co. Westmeath.

The body was discovered in a camper van in Lough Lene in Collinstown yesterday morning.

Gardaí upgraded their investigation to murder, following the results of a post mortem.

It' is believed the dead man was strangled during a row.

The 28-year-old man who was arrested under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act yesterday can be detained until around midday today before being charged or released.
