Mary Harney, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, today welcomed the announcement by Diageo of its intention to transfer the brewing of Guinness for the UK market to St James's Gate in Dublin.

"This is a very significant boost for the St James's Gate brewery and seriously deepens the already strong presence of Diageo in Ireland," she said.

"This €40m investment by Diageo is further recognition of the capabilities within Diageo Ireland and I am pleased that Enterprise Ireland also had a role to play in securing today's outcome," the Tánaiste added.
