Tipperary skipper Brian O'Meara has been dealt a crushing blow with the news that he'll be out for up to a month with a couple of broken toes.
O'Meara picked up the injuries in Tipp's recent loss to Cork and will be a big loss in phase two of the league campaign.
Tipp boss Michael Doyle said: "Brian will be out for three to four weeks. We didn't realise the extent of the injury until he went to hospital in Waterford on Monday."
Meanwhile, Louth boss Paddy Carr has been left without three influential players because of their decision to commit solely to club football.
St Mary's players Niall Sharkey, Darren Clarke and Peter Duffy disobeyed an order not to play for their club in the ACC semi-final clash with St Bride's last weekend.
As a result they've been dumped off the panel with a county board statement insisting: "We wish them every success in the coming year."
