With 51% of votes counted in the Donegal South West by-election, Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty has garnered 39.5% of the vote.
Fianna Fáil's Brian O'Domhnaill has won 20.3% of the votes, Fine Gael's Barry O'Neill 19.8%, Labour's Frank McBrearty 20.3% and Independent Thomas Pringle 9.9%.
On arriving at the count this morning, Doherty said: "The fact that I had to take it to court (means) that having the by-election at all is a victory…We're looking forward to the outcome, and hopefully by this evening I'll be elected as TD," he said.
