A suicide car bomber attacked a vehicle carrying a senior Pakistani police official in the north-western city of Peshawar today, killing him and two others, said police.
The dead included Rasheed Khan, the deputy superintendent of police for southern Peshawar, as well as his driver and a passer-by, said senior police official Gul Afzal Afridi.
Eight other people were wounded in the attack, which took place on the outskirts of Peshawar, he said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Peshawar has been repeatedly attacked by the Pakistani Taliban.
The city is located next to Pakistan’s tribal area, which the militants use as their main base of operations.
