Leg Spinner was a big disappointment in the Kerry Spring Water Hurdle at Listowel today, finishing well beaten behind all-the-way winner Kingsmaster.
The smart Flat handicapper was unplaced as he failed to boost his claims for the totesport Cesarewitch at Newmarket next month.
Always towards the rear as Kingsmaster led his rivals a merry dance, Tony Martin’s charge could not make up any ground on the leaders.
Meanwhile up front, Kingsmaster (14-1) kept up the gallop for Sean Flanagan to come home four and a half lengths ahead of Boulavogue with Mister Top Notch third.
Winning trainer Lar Byrne said: “He has been in super form. We have no major plans, but he might go for another hurdle race or go chasing.”
