Henrietta Knight is mulling over whether to send Aztec Warrior to Ascot or Haydock on Saturday.
The promising six-year-old has entries in the Amlin Chase over three miles, three furlongs at the Berkshire course and in the three-mile Betting As It Should Be Handicap Chase on Merseyside.
“He’s a gorgeous horse and he probably does want the three miles,” said Knight.
“But again it’s a question of jockeys and which race looks the most suitable. He desperately needs a run now and we’ve been waiting for the rain.
“He’s actually entered in the Hennessy, but I don’t think he’d get in it and we’ll probably have to wait for some long-distance races later in the season.
“I think he’s a super horse for the future and he’s a lovely jumper,” the West Lockinge-based trainer told At The Races.
One horse poised for Ascot is the Dessie Hughes-trained Justpourit.
The eight-year-old was in the process of running a fine race on his autumn return when slipping up on the turn for home and bringing down Knight Legend in a three-horse affair at Down Royal earlier this month.
Hughes said: “I think the distance and the ground will suit him and I’ll just have to see what the handicapper does.
“If he doesn’t lump too much more weight on him I’d probably bring him.”
