Pamela Izevbekhai and her daughters have been deported from Ireland, bringing to an end a six-year legal battle to stay in the country.
The Nigerian was arrested in Sligo along with her daughters Naomi and Jemima in the early hours of this morning.
The three were then brought to Dublin and put on an early morning flight to Nigeria.
Ms Izevbekhai should have been deported from Ireland in 2005 but she lodged an appeal against the order arguing her two daughters would be subjected to female genital mutilation if returned to Nigeria.
However, over the course of lengthy High Court and Supreme Court battles, medical documents supporting the claim were found to be fake.
She brought the case to the European Court of Human Rights, but last month the Court last found she and her husband could protect their children in Nigeria owning a five-bedroom villa with the use of three cars.
The Court found her husband has considerable financial resources and could relocate the family to parts of Nigeria where female mutilation is less common.
This morning, at around 1.30am, gardaí arrested the Nigerian and her two daughters Naomi and Jemima on foot of a deportation order signed by the Justice Minister.
They were brought to Dublin Airport where at around 5.30am this morning, where they boarded a flight to Lagos in Nigeria.
