The head of the taskforce set up by the Government to tackle rising unemployment in the mid-west says he cannot offer much hope at this stage to people who are losing their jobs.

The head of the taskforce set up by the Government to tackle rising unemployment in the mid-west says he cannot offer much hope at this stage to people who are losing their jobs.

Denis Brosnan says he is deeply concerned about the wider impact of the 1,900 jobs cuts at the Dell plant in Limerick.

The board of the new taskforce meets for the first time tomorrow to discuss measures to protect jobs in the region, but Mr Brosnan says there will no quick solutions.
