A Lithuanian man has been acquitted of threatening to kill a Russian woman he denies raping in Waterford two years ago.

A Lithuanian man has been acquitted of threatening to kill a Russian woman he denies raping in Waterford two years ago.

Mr Justice Barry White directed the jury on day - 10 of his trial at the Central Criminal Court to find the accused not guilty of threatening to kill the complainant.

The jury of six men and six women has now just started deliberating on the three remaining charges of rape, sexual assault and assault causing harm to the now 27-year-old woman.

The 22-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to committing the crimes on March 19, 2006 at an apartment in Waterford city. He has given evidence denying all the allegations.
