Tara mines in Co Meath is expected to announce around 700 job cuts later today due to low zinc prices.

Tara mines in Co Meath is expected to announce around 700 job cuts later today due to low zinc prices.

The company said it plans to exit the base metal mining market and put its Co Meath operations on care and maintenance until further notice.

Almost all the company’s employees will be laid off for the duration of the stoppage.
