A body has been recovered from the river Suir on the Waterford Kilkenny border.

A body has been recovered from the river Suir on the Waterford Kilkenny border.

It is understood the grim discovery was made this afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene near Mooncoin.

The remains have been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will be carried out.

Thomastown Gardaí have launched an investigation.

Gardaí are not treating the discovery as suspicious.
