Sinn Fein is claiming that an army vehicle deliberately struck a young man in the North last night.

The incident happened during clashes between rioters and security forces late last night in the New Lodge area in Belfast.

The 21-year-old man is now in critical condition in hospital. Sinn Fein councillor for North Belfast Eoin O’Broin argues that army vehicle purposely swerved and hit the young man.

Security forces came under attack from stones and bottles during rioting in the area.

Mr O’Broin says that a jeep deliberately struck the young man as he stepped off the pavement.

He had been walking home with a group of other teenagers pedestrians at two o’clock.
