Southampton skipper Jason Dodd has welcomed speculation that former England boss Kevin Keegan will be the man chosen to replace Glenn Hoddle at The Dell.
While Hoddle returns to Tottenham, the scene of his glory days as a player, Keegan would also be back on familiar ground having starred for Saints between 1980 and 1982.
Dodd said: ‘‘It is fantastic that we are being linked with a manager of Kevin Keegan’s pedigree.
‘‘It just goes to prove how far the club has come under Glenn, but from a selfish point of view we are very disappointed he has chosen to leave.
‘‘We are going for a place in Europe and moving to a new stadium this year.
‘‘But after working with one high-profile manager who has brought us all on in leaps and bounds, I would love to work with another.
‘‘The club is in a healthy position so if the chairman want to bring in someone like Kevin Keegan, he will be confident of being successful.
‘‘He was brave to bring in Glenn and that proved a success.’’
