Rock 'n' roller Bo Diddley is struggling to communicate after suffering a stroke on Sunday.

Diddley is reportedly walking around his hospital room in Omaha, Nebraska, offering medics hope for his recovery.

The singer-songwriter/guitarist, who has a history of hypertension and diabetes, was admitted to Creighton University Medical Centre on Sunday after showing signs of disorientation following a concert at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

But doctors are optimistic for the 78-year-old's recovery.

A spokesman says: "We are truly encouraged by the way he is responding."
