Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will today hold bilateral discussions with Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader in Zagreb.

A spokesman for Mr Ahern said the leaders will have talks on EU enlargement and the development of economic relations between Ireland and Croatia.

The EU formally agreed to open accession negotiations with Croatia in October.

“Ireland’s bilateral relationship with Croatia was greatly strengthened during Ireland’s EU presidency in 2004 when the Taoiseach and Prime Minister Sanader worked together on the issue of Croatia’s objective of becoming a full EU member,” Mr Ahern’s spokesman added.
