Recession 'raising suicide rates in middle-aged men'

The Samaritans has warned of an increase in the rates of suicide among men between their thirties and fifties because of the recession.

The Samaritans has warned of an increase in the rates of suicide among men between their thirties and fifties because of the recession.

The charity said the implications of the economic downturn are now playing havoc with people's lives.

The charity said: "Because men in the middle-age catogories are bearing the brunt of job losses, it is in these age groups that suicides are increasing at the fastest rates."
