Former West Brom striker Lee Hughes has made his first appearances for prison side Featherstone.

The 28-year-old was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and is serving a six-year sentence at the Wolverhampton jail.

Hughes made his debut against Congleton Vale in the Staffs County League, coming on as a substitute and scoring twice as his side salvaged a point.

Congleton manager Jamie Smith told the Stoke Sentinel: “We were not aware Lee Hughes was at Featherstone. The lads thought I was joking when I told them he was on their team sheet.”

Hughes has scored a hat-trick for Featherstone since, in his side’s 5-3 win against Manor Inne.
