Munster consolidated their position as runaway Magners League leaders by seeing off Italian hosts Aironi at Stadio Zaffanella.

The Irish heavyweights prevailed following lock Donnacha Ryan’s touchdown and a penalty try, while Paul Warwick booted two penalties and slotted both conversions.

Aironi gained a consolation score through their back-row forward Nick Williams, but Munster were never in danger of being unsettled in their relentless push towards the title play-offs.

Ryan, meanwhile, was one of three players who collected yellow cards during the game, with Aironi wing Guilio Toniolatti and flanker Gareth Krause also cautioned.
