Mayo 1-12, Sligo 1-11

Mayo scraped past neighbours Sligo by a solitary point after an exciting Connacht semi-final at McHale Park.

Sligo will wonder how they lost this game after they missed a litany of goal chances, particularly in the first half.

These included a missed penalty from Paul Taylor on the stroke of half-time.

Dessie Sloyane's goal gave Sligo an early advantage and despite Tom Mallen's goal for Mayo, Sligo led by two points at half-time.

Mayo introduced Maurice Sheridan and the Banna clubman made a major contribution to Mayo's improved second half performance.

Mayo can also thank young corner forward Marty McNicholas who was in inspirational form for the home side.

Sligo will be definitely disappointed and will now have to take their chances in the loser's group while Mayo now face Roscommon in the Connacht final at Dr Hyde Park on July 1.
