An 18-year-old is recovering in hospital tonight after a shooting in Limerick city.

An 18-year-old is recovering in hospital tonight after a shooting in Limerick city.

The teenager was targeted by a masked gun man in the Parnell Street area at 5.45pm.

Gardaí at Roxboro are investigating the incident.

Officers said while the injuries to the victim’s upper body are serious, they are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

He was rushed to St John’s Hospital and later transferred to Limerick Regional Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Roxboro Garda Station.
