Controllers strike hits both Paris airports
A strike by air traffic controllers caused hours-long delays at Paris’ main international airport today and forced cancellations for a second day at the French capital’s second hub.
At Charles de Gaulle airport, flights to and from northern and eastern Europe were delayed for up to several hours, but none were cancelled, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation said.
At Orly, a smaller airport, 60% of flights were called off for a second day, the authority said.
National carrier Air France said the strike was expected to cause similar delays and cancellations tomorrow. The protest is to run through Friday.
Two leading unions are protesting at plans to reorganise air traffic control services, concentrating controllers at Charles de Gaulle in Roissy, north of the capital.
