UN and Kofi Annan share Nobel Peace Prize

The United Nations and its secretary-general, Kofi Annan, have shared this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for “their work for a better organised and more peaceful world”.

The United Nations and its secretary-general, Kofi Annan, have shared this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for “their work for a better organised and more peaceful world”.

The Nobel committee said the UN is at the forefront of efforts to achieve worldwide peace and security. Mr Annan, who has devoted most of his working life to the UN, was praised for “bringing new life to the organisation”.
