Cardle dominated vote throughout 'X Factor', figures show
Matt Cardle polled more votes than any of his rivals on all but one of the live X Factor shows, figures reveal.
Only the first week of the competition saw another act take more votes than the former painter and decorator.
On week one, Mary Byrne took 22.2% of the vote, compared to 15.1% for the 27-year-old from Essex.
But Cardle leapt ahead the following week, with 24.3% of the vote, while supermarket checkout worker Byrne was his nearest rival at 18.5%.
Cardle’s winning streak continued throughout the show, culminating in 44.6% on Sunday night’s final.
Runner-up Rebecca Ferguson was close behind on 38.6% while Simon Cowell’s boyband One Direction took 12.6% on Sunday night.
More than 15.4 million votes were cast throughout the whole series.
