Kildare fire investigation launched

Investigators are this morning examining the scene of a fire at an explosives factory in Co Kildare.

Investigators are this morning examining the scene of a fire at an explosives factory in Co Kildare.

Units from three fire stations responded to the blaze and an emergency plan was launched.

Fire crews managed to contain the blaze to a store. There was no danger of the flames reaching the explosives.

It is thought the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

Clouds of dark smoke billowed into the sky during the incident.
