Physiotherapists are warning that children risk contracting thumb injuries through excessive text messaging.

Physiotherapists are warning that children risk contracting thumb injuries through excessive text messaging.

The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists has reported an increase in the number of young people with tendon strains in their thumbs and is blaming the injuries on mobile phone text messaging.

The organisation said mobile phone users should limit themselves to around 10 text messages per day in order to avoid long-term problems with grasping.
