Republic of Ireland hopeful Lee Frecklington scored the winner as League One Rotherham put one over their Championship neighbours Sheffield Wednesday with an impressive 2-1 win tonight.
All the goals came in the first half of a pulsating derby clash in front of a sell-out 11,433 crowd, the start of which was delayed for 15 minutes because of congestion outside the ground.
The home side went in front after 10 minutes when Kari Arnason's long throw was cleared to the unmarked Ben Pringle and the midfielder lashed a rasping 20-yarder past Chris Kirkland.
On a rare break forward Wednesday won a free-kick 30 yards out that was struck low with precision by Rhys McCabe to level after 23 minutes.
Another Arnason throw-in fell to Frecklington who restored Rotherham's lead with a sweet strike after 38 minutes.
With Wednesday trailing, Owls' winger Jermaine Johnson, who had been on the pitch just 18 minutes, was sent off when he clashed with Ben Pringle and head-butted the midfielder, earning a straight red after 76 minutes.
