Robben return more bad news for United

Arjen Robben is set to return for Bayern Munich when they travel to face league-leaders Schalke in a crunch Bundesliga match on Saturday.

Arjen Robben is set to return for Bayern Munich when they travel to face league-leaders Schalke in a crunch Bundesliga match on Saturday.

Robben sat out last night’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Manchester United with a calf problem, but coach Louis van Gaal has said the Dutch winger is in his plans for the weekend.

“Arjen is doing well, he has no problems for Saturday,” he said in Kicker. “We travel to Schalke with no injuries.”

Bayern sit two points behind Schalke going into Saturday’s match, but club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes the victory over United can spur the team on to bigger things.

“We will have a tailwind behind us going to Schalke on Saturday,” he said.

“We want to go there and emerge as league leaders. This is a very big game, but we know our team has quality and is able to win these games.”
