A pharmaceutical facility is to create 195 new jobs with the establishment of a new plant in Sligo.

A pharmaceutical facility is to create 195 new jobs with the establishment of a new plant in Sligo.

Abbot Laboratories already employs 1,700 people in Donegal and Cavan and is now planning to invest £55m in a Sligo lab, which will manufacture medical equipment and a range of drugs.

Elsewhere today, the Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has announced the allocation of start-up grants to a number of business projects.

The grants, totalling more than £2.7m, will lead to an estimated 76 new jobs in the midlands.
