Explosive device found on grounds of Dublin school

The army has made safe an explosive device found on school grounds in Dublin.

The improvised device was discovered, in what is described as a "remote area" of the school grounds, on Aughavannagh Road in Crumlin this morning.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived on scene at 10.05am.

All of the students were moved to safety and a security cordon was put in place during the operation, which was dealt with on site without the need for a controlled explosion.

The scene was declared safe at 11.25am.

The device, which has since been confirmed to contain explosive, will now be handed over to gardaí.
