The body of a young girl, believed to be one of two missing girls who disappeared in Belgium more than two weeks ago, has been found by police.

Police and justice officials have so far refused to confirm the media report, which said a body was found in tall grass alongside railway tracks.

Police have been searching non-stop for the two missing schoolgirls, seven-year-old Stacy Lemmens, and 10-year-old Nathalie Mahy, since they disappeared during a street party on June 10.

Police have a suspect in custody, but he denies any involvement in the case.

Their case has revived painful memories in Belgium of the killing spree of child-rapist Marc Dutroux 10 years ago.
