Brand may host VMAs again

Russell Brand has been asked to host the MTV Video Music Awards again - despite coming under fire for his risque gags at this year's prizegiving.

The British funnyman - who hosted Sunday's ceremony - was criticised for mocking The Jonas Brothers' morals and ridiculing the trio's decision not to have sex before marriage.

The star was subsequently forced to apologise for his jokes.

But Brand insists he was pleased with his performance at the event - and claims MTV executives were too.

He says: "My phone hasn't stopped ringing. Most people thought it was great and I'm pleased with how it went.

"The executive producer came up to me straight after the show and asked me to sign up to do next year's awards too. The viewing figures went up 20% on last year's show which is unbelievable. I'm really flattered."

The comedian, however, is still considering whether or not to accept the offer.

He adds: "It is the hardest thing I've ever done and I will think very carefully about accepting. I spent a lot of time suppressing the urge to scream a career-ending remark during the show."
