I'm staying at Milan, says Shevchenko

Andriy Shevchenko insists he is not going to Chelsea despite rumours linking him with a move away from the San Siro.

The Ukrainian forward was captured by television cameras having a heated argument with Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti after training on Monday, fuelling speculation of a possible departure.

Shevchenko admitted he has spoken to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich but has never discussed the possibility of a move to London.

“I have always told Roman Abramovich that we could never talk about it (a possible move),” Shevchenko told the Italian press.

“If Milan wanted to sell me I wouldn’t leave. I have no intention of leaving this club. Milan wants me and I want Milan, that is enough for me.”

Shevchenko has been withdrawn from the Rossoneri squad for their summer tour of the United States as he is due to undergo surgery to remove metal plates he had inserted after fracturing his cheekbone earlier this year, and Ancelotti insists Shevchenko remains a key figure for Milan.

“Sheva is still a fundamental player for us,” he said. “I can assure you he will stay at Milan and I don’t think there were any doubts. It was simply a normal argument between a coach and a player.”
