Dublin defender Tomás Brady is winning his battle to be fit for Saturday's Leinster SHC semi-final against Galway in Tullamore.
Brady suffered medial knee ligament damage in club training which forced him out of Dublin's opening Championship win over Offaly, but he is on course to return at full-back this weekend.
The Na Fianna clubman trained fully with the Dubs over the weekend and manager Anthony Daly has been pleased with the player's progress.
"Tomás looks nailed on (to start), bar something going wrong between now and then. He took a full part in training on Saturday. We're very hopeful that he will be able to play," he said.
"He played 20 minutes of a practice game in training and he came through it okay. He wasn't even sore after it. It looks good but we have to build it up.
"He was anxious and we were anxious that he play a bit of the game on Saturday and he did. He came through it grand. He will do a bit on Tuesday night. We'll play a bit of a game and he will play so that should build a bit of confidence."
Emphasising the importance of Brady in the context of the Galway game, Daly added: "Tomás is a big, strong guy. The likelihood is that (Joe) Canning would be full-forward for them. He looks the ideal man to go in and mark him.
"He would have no issues there strength-wise. He's very, very fit. We would be hopeful that he could go in there and do a job for us."
But the Division 1 champions look set to be without their regular centre-back Joey Boland once again. A club-mate of Brady's, Boland is working his way back from a dislocated shoulder.
"It's still tender. You're going to get tested on the shoulder in a Championship match of that intensity. It's unlikely that he will start anyway," admitted Daly, ahead of the counties' first Championship meeting since 1941.
"Every day Joey is getting better. The treatment is intense. It's twice a day some days. He's a physio himself so he's at it himself and he's really progressing rapidly. But it's unlikely that he will play at this stage."
If Dublin prevail on Saturday night, they will qualify for their second Leinster final in three years. Their appearance in the 2009 decider ended in a 2-18 to 0-18 defeat to Kilkenny.
