Jesper Blomqvist is set to make his Everton debut against Manchester United in a reserve match just days after moving from Old Trafford to Goodison Park.
Blomqvist, who has joined Everton on a free transfer until the end of the season at least after being released by United, is in line to face his old club on Tuesday in the reserve fixture at Widnes.
The 27-year-old Swede has played a handful of games for the Reds’ second string this season as part of his comeback following serious knee problems and he admitted it would be weird facing them.
‘‘If I play it will be a strange feeling, but we will just have to wait and see what happens,’’ said Blomqvist, whose last first-team match was the 1999 Champions League Final.
‘‘I have a lot of friends there and it will be good to see them on Tuesday.
‘‘I feel good. I’ve been playing full games and everything has been feeling good. I’ve been able to train really hard for the last three weeks.’’
