Hundreds attend removal of dead Garda

Hundreds of people have gathered in Rathoath, Co Meath, for the removal of Garda sergeant John Eiffe, who was shot by a colleague during a botched garda operation in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, on Friday.

Hundreds of people have gathered in Rathoath, Co Meath, for the removal of Garda sergeant John Eiffe, who was shot by a colleague during a botched garda operation in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, on Friday.

Garda commissioner Pat Byrne and Justice Minister John O’Donoghue were present at the removal, while the Taoiseach and the President have sent representatives.

Mr Eiffe, a 40-year-old father-of-four, will be buried tomorrow.
