Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (Paramount, €24.99) stars Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson in an autobiographical tale about a gangster’s rise to hip hop stardom.
Directed by our own Jim Sheridan, Jackson plays an orphaned street kid who deals in drugs but tries to leave it all behind to become a rap star. Unfortunately, what has the potential to be a half-decent work suffers from a few serious problems — 50 Cent can’t act, and the film’s apparent glorification of violence leaves you with a bad taste.
Special features are slim, just a ‘making of’ and trailer.
