Dettori increases jockey's c'ship lead
Frankie Dettori edged further ahead in the jockeys’ championship race this afternoon when steering home the first winner at Ascot – eight years on from his ‘Magnificent Seven’ at the same meeting.
Perfectperformance’s victory in the Hackney Empire Royal Lodge Stakes took Godolphin’s retained rider to 161 wins for the season.
The 4-6 success was the only one for Dettori, although the reigning champion Kieren Fallon failed to find the winner’s enclosure.
The latter remains on 157 winners for the season.
