Barry Hills will attempt to add to his impressive recent record in the Victor Chandler Chester Vase with Risk Taker on the Roodee on Tuesday.
The Lambourn trainer took the Vase with Mr Combustible in 2001 and scored with Peshtigo two years earlier.
This time he relies on the progressive son of Rainbow Quest, runaway winner of a three-runner Newmarket maiden over 12 furlongs last month, where he justified odds-on favouritism by 18 lengths.
Hills told the Racing Post: “Although he didn’t beat much I’ve always thought a lot of him, and he has done well since the race.”
Possible opponents for the Prince Khalid Abdulah-owned colt include the highly-rated Godolphin pair Graikos and New South Wales.
