Hong Kong-based jockey Brett Prebble has been handed the ride on Carte Diamond in the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington tomorrow week.

“Brett comes highly recommended,” Malton trainer Brian Ellison told the Racing Post.

“The horse is in brilliant form. He’s really doing well and I can’t wait to get him to Flemington. He has picked up two gears since last week’s Caulfield Cup.”

Prebble is currently second in the Hong Kong jockeys’ table with 12 winners from 63 rides this autumn.

The Australian jockey is due to fly over to get acquainted with Carte Diamond with a workout at Sandown racecourse tomorrow.
