Christmas EastEnders cameo role for Day

Fast Show star Simon Day is to appear in EastEnders.

Day has a cameo role as a cabbie booked to drive a well-known character away from Walford forever on Christmas Day.

The comic actor is best known as The Fast Show’s Competitive Dad.

He said: “I’ve done Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes, Heartbeat and now EastEnders.

“Izzard, Gervais and Whitehouse – none of them can touch my CV.”

Day is not the first comedy star to appear in the BBC soap – Little Britain’s David Walliams had a cameo last Christmas as a hapless friend of Alfie Moon.

EastEnders bosses are keeping the identity of the departing character under wraps.

But Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Vicki Fowler (Scarlett Johnson), Paul Trueman (Gary Beadle) and Kate Mitchell (Jill Halfpenny) are already leaving the soap.
