McGuigan supports Lewis decision on Lewis

Former featherweight world champion Barry McGuigan believes Tyson is sensible to avoid a rematch with Lewis at the moment.

Former featherweight world champion Barry McGuigan believes Tyson is sensible to avoid a rematch with Lewis at the moment.

“It is no preparation for Lewis and at least he (Tyson) is wise enough to realise that,” McGuigan said of the lightning-quick success against Etienne.

“He needs six or seven rounds more and then he’s ready to take Lewis. The question is - will Lewis hang around long enough?”

Scot Jim Watt, a former lightweight champion, could not judge Tyson after such a short contest.

“It didn’t last long enough to judge, really,” Watt told Sky Box Office.

“We didn’t see enough of Mike Tyson. He can knock a man out with one punch, but we always knew that.”
