British Airways said today that it handed a multi-million pound aircraft order to Boeing, after the US firm beat competition from European rival Airbus.
The contract win comes as a further blow to Airbus, which last month admitted it took fewer orders than Boeing in 2006 for the first time in six years.
BA has ordered four Boeing 777-200 long-haul aircraft, due for delivery in 2009, with an option for four more in 2010.
BA refused to disclose how much the aircraft deal was worth, but said the “list price” was$201m (€151m) per plane.
