A group of hauliers are set to meet later tonight to discuss how to combat rising insurance and fuel prices, which they say are forcing them out of business.

The group, which is not meeting under the organisation of the Irish Road Haulage Association, says between four and 10 hauliers quit the trade each week.

Large numbers are expected to attend the meeting in Portlaoise, which plans to form an action committee to tackle the issues.
