A class in Texas are looking forward to a year of fun and frolics after receiving a letter from their teacher on the new homework policy.
Students in second-grade class in Godley Independent School District will not be getting homework -at all.
In a note sent home to parents the teacher, Brady Young, wrote: “I'm trying something new.”
The teacher said that homework would consist solely of work the student had not finished that day in class and there would be no formally assigned homework.
The letter was handed out at a meet-the-teacher night and she discussed her reasoning with the parents.
Instead of giving her students homework, Mrs Young has stipulated that she would like her students to "eat dinner as a family, play outside, read together and go to bed early.”
It will be interesting to see the results of this experiment in a years time. Hopefully, it will have positive benefits and it might be used in other classrooms too!
