Teenage cyclist dies in road accident

A 19-year-old cyclist has died after the bicycle was in collision with a van.

A 19-year-old cyclist has died after the bicycle was in collision with a van.

Gardaí said the accident happened in Newbridge, Co Kildare, at around 11.30pm on Saturday.

The teenager was taken to Naas General Hospital where he died yesterday from his injuries.

A Garda spokesman said: “The collision happened between the front gates of Newbridge College and the roundabout at College Orchard and involved a van and a pedal cyclist.”

Gardaí at Newbridge are investigating.
